This goes for both primary schools (Swedish: grundskola), and secondary school (Swedish: gymnasium) and universities. When studying at a university, however, you might have to pay for accommodation and literature. There are private schools as well who also receive funding from the government, but they may charge a fee from the parents. The Swedish primary school is split into three parts; Lågstadiet – “the low stage”, which covers grades 1 to 3.
